Naval Air: February 2, 2001

Archives

The Navy will have to decide quickly about the future of its carrier radar plane fleet. Unless  new planes are ordered this year, the assembly line will start to shut down in 2003 with the last new E-2C Hawkeye  delivered in 2006. The oldest E-2Cs will start retiring in 2012, and there is no realistic chance that a new radar
plane could be flying by then.--Stephen V Cole
