Many U.S. army officers who served in Afghanistan are complaining that things would have gone even better if they had an opportunity to train using precision bombing. The air force says it hasn't got the time. The air force forward air controllers do train with the army, a lot. But they just go through the motions, for there are rarely any air force bombers overhead to work with. There were few problems with the precision bombing in Afghanistan, although the ones that did occur might have been avoided if there had been more peace time training exercises involving army troops on the ground and air force warplanes overhead.
