The Air Force has issued a $519 million contract to ITT to upgrade its mission warning and space tracking radars. If several options are exercised, this could stretch to 18 years and $959 million. The systems to be upgraded include BMEWS (Ballistic Missile Early Warning System) and GEODSS (Ground-based Electro-Optical Deep Space Surveillance).--Stephen V Cole
