Peacekeeping: U.S. Training Camp in Mongolia

July 29, 2006: The United States is conducting a training program for peacekeepers in Mongolia this Summer. Some 300 American military personnel will run the program, which will train 600 Mongolian troops, as well as 200 others from Bangladesh, Fiji, South Korea, Thailand and Tonga. The United States has been running training courses like this all over the world, in an effort to raise the training standard for peacekeepers. The students are taught basic peacekeeping techniques, which have been developed over decades of actual peacekeeping operations.
