Canada is studying the idea of providing four-aircraft detachments of fighters to US Air Force Air Expeditionary Wings. These Wings are set to rotate on 15-month overseas assignments; one of them is currently deployed to Italy to fly over the Balkans and another wing flies over Iraq. Adding Canadian aircraft would give the US some relief on operational tempo while providing the Canadians with considerable experience on operations and interoperability.--Stephen V Cole
