In the last month, rebel terrorists have killed 110 people, mostly civilians. Only a few hundred Islamic fundamentalists that remain in rebellion, but they roam the countryside terrorizing the civilian population with nighttime attacks and murders. That the government can't hunt down these last rebel groups just adds to the general dissatisfaction with the government. A severe drought is adding to the unrest, with angry demonstrations over water shortages. The population is suffering from malaise and despair, with little organized opposition. The government is unable to get a real democracy going because of corruption among government officials.
