The Islamic terrorists have lost control of the roads. For over a decade, the terrorists were relatively free to set up roadblocks, and rob and kill people coming through. But now police and army patrols along the coastal roads have, for the first time in over a decade, enabled Algerians to freely use the roads. There are still several hundred Islamic terrorists in eastern Algeria, in the wooded hills not far from the coast. But over the last few years, more and more of the Islamic radicals were killed or driven deep into the hills. The patrols have made it too dangerous for the terrorists to operate along the roads.
