Over the weekend, Tajikistan troops continued an offensive against various rebel groups, killing 36 and capturing 66. A group of 50 rebels outside the capital were surrounded by troops. The operation was triggered when rebels took five policemen prisoner earlier in the month.  The rebels had signed a peace agreement in 1997, but since then this group had turned to drug dealing and banditry. This group is accused of 270 killings.
