So far this year, at least 50 people in Tajikistan have come down with naturally occurring Anthrax. Herders get Anthrax from handling and eating their animals. Last year, about a hundred were infected with Anthrax, and in 2000, it was 300. The number infected varies depending on the weather and where the herders graze their animals. Naturally occurring Anthrax is common throughout Central Asia.
