Further information has become available on India's test of the Dhanush sea-launched missile on 11 April, and things did not go as well as the first Indian press releases claimed. The missile was launched from the helicopter deck of the offshore patrol vessel Subhadra, anchored 20km from the Bengal coast. The launch was a success, but the missile (which India first claimed struck its target) went out of control and crashed into the ocean 25km from the ship. Details on Dhanush remain vague; the latest estimate cites a 1000kg warhead carried 150km, but this data may reflect a different version of the missile.--Stephen V Cole
