Pradeep Gogoi, a senior commander of the United Liberation Front of Asom, fell in battle with Indian troops on 8 May. Security forces raided a house where Gogoi and his four bodyguards were hiding, apparently after an informant sold them out. All were killed in the resulting raid.--Stephen V Cole
