In Kashmir an exchange of fire across the Line of Control left 11 Pakistani soldiers  dead. Of the thousands of Pakistani volunteers who went to fight for the Taliban in Afghanistan, some 2,000 are still listed as still listed as missing. Despite this, the Pakistani said it would welcome a visit by Northern Alliance leaders to the Pakistani capital. On the Afghan border, 20 British SAS commandos (traveling in six light armored vehicles) accidentally crossed a border and searched a village for terrorist suspects. One of the soldiers, who spoke the local language, said they had satellite photos indicating terrorists had come this way.
