  Violence in Kashmir left seven rebels dead. In southern India, PWG rebels released three kidnapped policemen. The rebels had tried to get the government to agree to a list of 16 demands in return for not killing the policemen. The government refused and sent hundreds of men into the jungle area where the PWG were known to have their camps.
