Islamic separatists in Kashmir are trying to stop the new cross-border bus service between India and Pakistan. Soldiers from both countries are searching for mines in the road, and some have been found. One bus has hit a mine, wounding seven passengers. The Islamic separatists see the improved relations between India and Pakistan as a defeat, and are doing all they can to maintain a hostile atmosphere between the two nations. The ongoing violence in Kashmir is still producing several casualties a week. However, the police appear to be reducing the level of terror among the civilian population. The Islamic rebels are spending more time just staying out of the way of the police.
