Military operations in Aceh left nine rebels and 12 civilians dead. At least one soldier was wounded. The military is under a lot of pressure to stamp out rebel activity so that oil and gas field production can resume. The government cannot afford to lose the revenue. In the capital, five students were wounded during demonstrations protesting increased fuel prices. Production is expected to resume in 2-3 weeks.
