IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) inspectors found particles of weapons grade uranium in a Iranian uranium processing plant that is under construction 290 kilometers south of the capital. This grade of uranium is not needed for a nuclear power plant, and is only used in weapons. The Iranians say the particles probably came along with second hand processing equipment they imported. But previously, Iran said it had not bought used processing equipment or received foreign assistance in building this plant. It is suspected that Pakistan is providing technology and equipment for Iran's nuclear weapons program. The discovery of the weapons grade material has apparently provided moderates in the government with the power to force the conservatives to allow more nuclear inspections. If Iran is condemned by the IAEA, it risks being cut off from economic aid and resources in Europe and elsewhere in the West.
