Archives

Israel charged two Israeli soldiers for the shooting of a Palestinian woman in Gaza on July 8th. Israel also apologized for the shooting. Border disagreements with Lebanon are being worked out informally, as a way to limit violence while formal negotiations try to clear things up. Negotiations for a final agreement between Israel and Palestine are taking place in the United States. Success is not likely. Palestine wants $40 billion in compensation, the right to bring back millions of Palestinian refugees and part of Jerusalem as their capital. A majority of Israelis want a final peace, but many also object to one or more of the Palestinian demands.
