Israeli commandos swept into Palestinian territory and arrested eight Palestinians suspected of killing two Israeli soldiers on October 12th. Violent Palestinian demonstrations continue to increase, indicating that the the October 16th agreement had a very temporary effect. The major problem is that the Palestinian Authority risks civil war if it tries to rein in or disarm the more violent demonstrators.
