Palestinian and Israeli security officials met to discuss ways to reduce tensions and violence.  Although Palestinian authorities say they have arrested three groups accused of firing mortar shells at Israelis, shells continued to be fired. Israel has apparently convinced the Palestinian authorities that control of Palestinian areas by Palestinians is at risk as long as these mortar shells continue to fall on Israelis. Again today, Israeli troops entered Palestinian territory to destroy buildings suspected of being firing sites for Palestinian mortars.
