Attempts to revive peace negotiations got a boost when Saudi Arabia proposed a peace deal almost identical to the terms Israel offered before the Palestinians began the current conflict. In addition, the Arabs offer to recognize Israel's right to exist. While the Palestinian Authority has welcomed this proposal in English. Palestinian officials speaking in Arabic continue to call for the destruction of Israel. This remains the most popular sentiment in all Arab nations. Meanwhile, the Israeli government, the only democracy in the region, is under popular pressure to halt the Palestinian attacks. Israeli voters are willing to back a peace deal, but won't tolerate continued attacks against Israelis. Nevertheless, Israel has said it would meet with Saudi officials to discuss the offer, and Israeli and Palestinian security officials continue to meet to discuss ways to reduce the violence.
