: 10.0pt"> Over a year ago, Israel began developing new tactics and training its troops for operations in Palestinian towns and refugee camps (which are basically towns with more recent, and less sturdy, construction.) The new tactics were meant to minimize civilian casualties. This meant using infantry, and things like taking along local civilians to knock on doors and tell the people inside that Israeli troops were outside and were coming in. This didn't always work, and the Israelis resorted to using armored bulldozers to knock down walls, or entire buildings, where they were getting resistance or where it was known that the Palestinians had heavily booby trapped the area. Artillery use was minimal. More often, helicopters with guided missiles were used.
