Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas escaped injury when a pro-terrorist mob demonstrated outside his West Bank headquarters, and shots were fired into the building Abbas was in. Abbas has tried to impose some law and order in Palestinian territories, and this has generated a violent reaction from some of the Palestinian terrorist groups. There have been shoot outs between Palestinian police and the terrorists. Abbas does not want to trigger a civil war, but he can't avoid dealing with the terrorists. If the terrorists continue their efforts to attack Israel, Israel will not open up their borders and allow the Palestinian economy to recover. Without some economic growth, Abbas will lose his popular support.
