A senior South Korean intelligence (a major general) was removed from his job for going public with information that showed how the former defense minister had suppressed an intelligence report that warned of the June 29 naval skirmish with North Korean warships. The politicians didn't want any trouble with the North Koreans with the World Cup soccer games still going on. Sitting on the intelligence warning didn't work, as the intel people had it right and the North Koreans started shooting.
