 US and South Korean troops began long planned joint field exercises near the DMZ. North Korea loudly denounced this, as well as threatening dire consequences if the US does not begin negotiating an aid and non-aggression treaty. Aside from some pious platitudes, no one is  paying much attention. However, the risk that North Korea might put its nuclear weapons on the world arms market has generated talk of a naval and air blockade of North Korea.
