KDP units have set up new anti-aircraft gun positions along the Iraqi-Turkish border. A subsequent report said the AAA guns were set up to protect KDP control points. One of the AAA gun sites is near a mobile bridge set up by the Turkish Army over the Hezil River. This strongly suggests close cooperation between Turkey and the KDP. Cooperation for what? Action against Iraq comes to mind, but also action to stop a wave of refugees from Iraq heading north into Turkey. That's also a possibility. Turk sources also report new Turkish military activity at the Bamerni airstrip inside northern Iraq.
