The government and rebels agreed to a peace deal. Fighting will end and an interim government will be selected. Armed groups will be disbanded and disarmed. Peacekeepers will make it possible to distribute foreign aid. 

The president and vice president -- to be called the chairman and vice 
chairman -- will be chosen from candidates proposed by political parties and 
civic groups. 
The new government will have 76 members: 12 each from Blah's government and 
the two rebel groups; 18 from political parties; seven from civil society and 
special interest groups; and one from each of Liberia's 15 counties. 

The president and vice president (referred to as the chairman and vice chairman) will be selected, in the next few days, from candidates put forward by political parties and civic groups.  The new government will have 76 members (12 each from  the current government, LURD and MODEL,  18 from existing political parties; seven from prominent Liberians  and special interest groups; and one from each of Liberia's 15 counties.) Major government decisions need at least 51 percent of the 76 to become effective.  Implicit in the deal is the arrival of lots of foreign aid,  and heavily armed peacekeepers.
