The navy recovered the body of the sailor abducted on the 1st by criminal youths, while on duty to escorting a barge carrying oil equipment valued at $50 million. Local leaders were considering taking legal action against the Naval authorities, for linking them with the abduction of the sailor, three Nigerian oil workers and the barge. The crew members had been released earlier and the tug boat recovered. Nigeria, the world's seventh biggest oil exporter, has lost billions of dollars over the years to ethnic fighting, hostage taking and the seizure of oil facilities. - Adam Geibel
