The Kenyan government reported 14 people died in a series of battles between Orma herders and Pokomo farmers in the Tana River area. The official death toll in these tribal clashes is now 64. The Anglican Church now says that it has information supporting allegations that sophisticated weapons have been illegally distributed in the Tana River district by local Tana River district (security) personnel. The statement seems to support tribal allegations that local security personnel have inflamed the fighting.
