mso-bidi-language: AR-SA"> In Jaffna, the latest rebel offensive came to an end, as army troops swept areas they had lost and found the bodies of dead rebels. In two days of fighting, nearly a hundred rebels were killed. The army lost 17 dead and 104 wounded. Meanwhile, newspapers reported that as many as fifty suicide bombers had entered the capital in preparation for another mass attack. It was also reported that bombers were carrying some 13 pounds of plastic explosive, as opposed to the 1.5 pounds used in the past. The bomber who attacked in the city on October 19th was carrying 13 pounds of explosives.
