Sri Lanka has abandoned efforts to form a Naval Air Arm a year after announcing it. Sri Lanka had ordered three helicopters from India, but the Indian government has now decided it will not provide them. Sri Lanka was upset that India never condemned the 24 July attack on the Colombo airport, issuing only a vague call for violence to stop.--Stephen V Cole
