The town of Akuem was bombed hours after a food airdrop by the U.N. World Food Program. Two children were killed. On Thursday, the Sudanese government described the attack in Akuem as a regrettable accident. The State Department condemned the attack and said it violated a promise by the Sudanese government to temporarily halt the bombing of civilian targets.
