NASA is increasing security for shuttle launches; that for the launch of Atlantis was the tightest yet, tighter than the two other flights since 11 September. NASA is gearing up because in July the shuttle will carry an Israeli astronaut into orbit, and the space agency is concerned that the shuttle could be targeted by anything from sabotage to a shoulder-fired heat-seeking missile. --Stephen V Cole
