Australia has ordered 150 LAV 8x8 wheeled armored vehicles for its Army. These will replace M113s in mechanized units (2nd/14th Light Horse, 3/4th Cavalry). The Australians already have 111 LAVs bought five years ago. The 150 new ones include 81 standard vehicles with 25mm guns, 15 surveillance variants, 14 command variants, 11 personnel carriers, 11 repair vehicles, 11 recovery vehicles, and 7 ambulance vehicles.--Stephen V Cole
