: Six companies remain in the British contest for a four-wheel light armored scout and liaison vehicle. Trials will last for two years, with a contract issued in 2003 and vehicles in service in 2005. The six contestants include:

Alvis offering the Scarab

BAE and Royal Ordnance offering the Turkish Otocar Cobra.

Hunting Engineering is offering the French TPK430.

Iveco of Italy is offering the Puma.

Trading Force of the UK is offering the RG-31/32.

Vickers is offering the Swiss Eagle (a variant of the Humvee).--Stephen V Cole
