The Indian Army is testing the Russian BM-9A52 self-propelled 300mm 12-round multiple rocket launchers. These rockets have a range of 70km (new designs can reach 90km) and can carry high explosive, fuel-air explosive, scatterable mines, and anti-armor submunitions. The system is mounted on a MAZ-543M 8x8 cross-country heavy truck. The Indians need an artillery system of this type as it out-ranges anything they have in service and can deal with concentrations of troops and armor.--Stephen V Cole
