The US Marine Corps knows that it needs a new radar jamming aircraft to take over for the EA-6B Prowlers, which must retire by 2015. The problem is that the preferred aircraft, the Joint Strike Fighter, won't be ready in time for a decision on a new airborne jammer in 2010. One possible plan is to outfit some F-18Fs with the jammer pods from the EA-6B and put them to work as temporary EF-18G Growlers. --Stephen V Cole
