While most American electronic warfare aircraft are being used in the war on terror, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is one notable exception. A U.S. Air Force EC-130E continues to fly off the coast of Cuba, broadcasting TV and radio signals to the people of Cuba. The Cuban government has tried to jam foreign radio and TV signals, and broadcasting from the EC-130E makes it more difficult for the jamming to work. Cuba uses a lot of Cold War surplus jamming equipment from Russia. For decades, the communist countries of Eastern Europe energetically jammed foreign radio broadcasts.
