In Zabul province, continued pursuit of a large group of Taliban has left two Taliban leaders (Mullah Abdur Rahim  and Mohammad Gul Niazai) and several of their followers dead. In the last three weeks, some 150 Taliban have been killed in the area, which is far from the Pakistani border. Normally, the Taliban stay close to the border, but this group of some 200 Taliban ventured farther inland.
