Reporting Taliban operations in Afghanistan is complicated by the fact that so much of the violence is caused by bandits, tribal feuds or drug gangs sorting out disputes, or defending their operations from attacks by police or rivals. The Taliban are but one of many armed groups prowling the countryside, and causing mayhem. For Afghanistan, all this violence is, unfortunately, normal. Bringing peace to Afghanistan would mean defeating more than the Taliban.
