Uzbekistan sent additional troops to its border with Afghanistan. The Taliban announced they were sending 8,000 troops to the Uzbek border. American air strikes were reported to have hit Taliban units near the Uzbek border.  Russia is sending aid for Afghan refugees in northern Afghanistan. This will include 100 20-person tents, 11 tons each of rice and buckwheat, 5.5 tons of sugar and 15.4 tons of 
condensed milk. The material is being sent via the Trans-Siberian railroad.
