The government has resumed talks with the rebel groups. No media was allowed and the meetings were held with tight security. The talks are deadlocked over rebel refusal to allow an international verification commission (to insure that everyone does what they promise to do.)

September 8; Government troops went after FARC and ELN (a smaller rebel group) in the north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the country. Over several days fighting, 34 rebels and five soldiers were killed. 

Venezuela has increased its army patrols along the Colombian border to reduce the incidence of Colombian rebels moving to bases in Venezuela.
