A recent example of this was the revelation that Iran obtained 1980s era US Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and provided them to Hizbollah in Lebanon (for use against Israeli aircraft.) But the missiles proved defective (the special batteries give out after a few years and the propellant becomes useless after about 15 years.)
