The government said that it had evidence that Iran would have a nuclear weapon by 2005. There have been rumors of this, and talk that Israel would bomb Iran's nuclear weapons facilities to slow down progress. The hard liners in Iran are very anti-Israeli. Iranian support for Hizbollah in Lebanon gives Iran a way to deliver a nuclear weapon by truck, although Iran is also developing a long range missile that could reach Israel.
