Israeli and Palestinian leaders proclaimed a ceasefire, and the resumption of peace talks. The Palestinians said they would officially, and unofficially, discourage terrorist attacks against Israelis. In turn, Israel would cease all attacks on Palestinians, including the killing of key terrorist leaders and technicians within Palestinian areas.  The Palestinian terrorist groups need this ceasefire in order to rebuild their much depleted (by Israeli attacks) organizations. Meanwhile, the Israelis will continue to intensive counter-terrorist operations. The Israeli and Palestinian leaders stressed that it was understood that no one could control all of the Palestinian terrorist groups, and that some attacks against Israelis might still occur. What is expected is real, and energetic, efforts by the Palestinian authorities against terrorist groups that break the ceasefire.
