Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has fired three of his top security officials after they failed to stop Palestinian terrorists from firing mortar shells and rockets at Israeli settlements in Gaza. All this is nothing new. In the past, the fired officials would later be quietly reinstated. Is it all for show? The mortar and rocket attacks do not cause as many casualties (usually none) as the suicide bombers or gunmen sneaking into settlements. The Palestinians want peace, for now, with Israel, but do not want to fight a civil war with Islamic radicals (who want Israel destroyed) in order to get peace.
