Last weeks riots were partially due to simmering ill will between the various factions that took part in the recent civil war. The "armies" in that civil war were made up of dozens of groups, each led by a guy who was a natural leader. Many of those gangs are still intact, even if they have turned in all, or most, of their firearms. And the gangs still tend to support their former "boss of bosses." The big guys, like exiled former president and war criminal Charles Taylor, deny any involvement in the recent violence. UN peacekeepers are not sure.
