Throughout the north, states that have adopted Sharia law are enforcing it vigorously. Whippings are being given out liberally for a variety of offenses, from use of alcohol to fornication. Women are being warned to cover up, or be punished. Bars and brothels are being closed down. Most worrisome is the application of Sharia law to Christians living in the north, which could lead to more violence against Moslems living in the predominately Christian south.
