The government insists that it had nothing to do with the recent coup in the tiny island nation of San Tome and Principe (off the Nigerian coast.) The two countries have a deal to develop oil fields in the waters that separate them. But the terms are unfavorable to San Tome and many feel that the now deposed president of San Tome was bribed by the Nigerians.
