US recon aircraft have put Basilan under intense surveillance, so much so that Filipino commanders believe they can finally track down remaining Abu Sayyaf rebels and rescue the three hostages (two Americans and one Filipino.) Elsewhere, MILF attacks against the army have increased in the south. In the north, NPA rebels attacked a police station and stole 15 weapons.
