The expected Abu Sayyaf attacks over Easter weekend did not happen. Apparently, recent police operations had rounded up enough of the Islamic terrorists, that those still at large felt it too risky to try to plant bombs or undertake other types of terrorist operations. Another limiting factor is the determination of Moslem separatist group MILF to keep up peace negotiations. MILF has informal relations with some Abu Sayyaf members, and this was apparently used to keep the violence down recently.
